NASA Planetary Protection Office was created to protect celestial bodies from earth contamination during scouting expeditions by humans in order to study an alien environment in its natural condition. Instead, A R C A gives the chance of transferring to the planet to be colonized genetic information of some animal and plant species, with the aim of recreating an earth-like habitat in the new environment.
